Your Guide to waxing after having a baby!

Post partum waxing – So you want the low down on what’s what after pregnancy and post birth – I’m here to help – and if you think of a question that’s not on here – let me know and I’ll do my best to answer it.

Whether your itching to get back to your normal routine or it’s the last thing on your mind 6-8 months on, every mum is different and it can vary baby to baby – 1st babies can be very overwhelming and take up all your thoughts, but it might be different after baby number 2, so the first thing is don’t worry what’s normal, there is no normal – do what’s right for you, and when you’re ready I’ll be here to welcome you.

When can I come back for a wax?

Okay, so there is no hard and fast answer as every birth experience is different, but general rule of thumb is probably 6-8 weeks post birth (with absolute minimum of 6 weeks).
If you’ve had an episiotomy or tear during birth of the perineum, I recommend 10 weeks minimum (as stretching whilst waxing, may re- injure any stitching or post birth healing).
We may wax around the area or miss going too close until fully healed.
So if you’ve had this you may wanna start with a Californian and we will work up to you usual if you just want a tidy up.
If you had an assisted birth or C-section – we will not wax over scars until six months post partum. So you may feel like a G-string option is for you, until then, or until healed completely, if not and the scar is not near the hair we can work around it (after 3-4 months).

Will it hurt more?

Waxing is never pain free, but it can be daunting coming back to something that feels like your starting over. I’ll do what I can to make it as comfortable as possible, most clients say it wasn’t as bad as they thought it’d be.. and they’d built it up more in their heads that in reality.  It may hurt slightly more as the roots and follicles have had longer to sit and establish, than a regular 4-6 weeks schedule, & if your breast feeding this may play a part in how sensitive you may be.
If you’ve left it a while you may want to ease back in by booking a smaller service such as a G-string & ease yourself back up to your usual full Hollywood –but if you choose to bite the bullet and just go for it, I’ll be there with you/for you every step of the way.

Can I bring my baby to my appointment?

Unfortunately not. Whilst I’ll be thrilled to welcome any & all new mums to the salon, and I’d love to see piccies of your little bundles of happiness.  My insurance will not cover this, as it’s a health & safety risk.  In addition, I use some chemicals for cleaning, and electrolysis that may not be suitable for children & babies. Plus, you’ll be nervous enough coming for a wax, without worrying whether littleun is happy or sleeping in his travel cot.  It can be distracting, and my job is to get you through your wax safely. Enjoy the well-earned “self care” time.

Here at WW I try to do everything possible to make your first wax post partum, as comfortable, and stress free as possible. So, any information you have about your birth or healing please write it in the notes area, when you book your appointment.

If I have any questions or need to follow up with you, I’ll either contact you in advance of your appointment or I can discuss it with you when you arrive. If you have any questions about anything, before booking you can text or whats app me and I’ll get back to you.
