Can I be waxed on my Period? – Answer Yes! – Yes you can!
You want to have your waxing done but annoyingly your period has come along at the most inconvenient time. Well, it doesn’t have to be inconvenient where waxing is concerned!
I am happy to wax anyone on their period!
Approximately 50% of the population (and about 80% of my clients) will have them at some point in their life. And yet they can still be seen as a bit of a taboo subject, or even embarrassing to mention, So let’s talk about it! and stop the stigma!
One of the most frequent texts I get – is “hi, can I rearrange my appointment it’s my time of the month”, usually followed by “Sorry TMI, I’m sure!” Well no, actually it’s not TMI it’s actually really helpful to know! No, you don’t need to rearrange, and yes, if I know I can do my best to give you a little more reassurance, and make you feel great about having your wax. Not whether Aunt Flo is in town! If we didn’t do things when Aunt Flo came to visit us, we’d have to move half our lives around. So just to let you know – I’m fine with it, and I’ll make sure, you know it’s okay to be fine with it too! You don’t have to text me in advance either – just let me know at the start of your appointment!
I won’t wax you any differently to my usual high standard. All of my hygiene protocols are still in place. Everything is wiped down before and after your treatment with antibacterial spray, disposable gloves for me, disposable bedsheet for you, and no double dipping.
Sorry –not Sorry! – Please don’t apologise there really is no need. Having periods are a normal part of women’s lives. So don’t worry.
Wearing a Tampon – If you use a tampon, just wear one as normal. If your able to tuck the string up a little great, if not I’ll just cut it a little shorter, so we don’t get wax stuck to it, and I’ll work around it as normal.
Menstrual Cup – these are becoming more and more popular these days, which is great as they are re-usuable, discreet, and better for the environment, they can take a little getting used to, inserting them and getting them out again, but they are great option to carry with you as they come in a discreet little pouch handy for the handbag. If you’re interested to try one – this is a great UK made version that’s recommended – I’ve ordered these before, very fast delivery too. https://www.mooncup.co.uk/
Pads- If you wear a pad, just make sure to bring a fresh one with you for the end of your appointment, so that you have something clean to wear against freshly waxed skin. You can pop your old one in the bin, in the wax room, bins are changed frequently and I always ensure there are intimate wipes available to you to freshen up at the start of your treatment.
Period Pants – Again, these are becoming more popular, as they are better for the environment, designed to be washed & re-used like normal underwear, and you can order, based on the heaviness of your flow, We are no longer talking, nappy pants here, these days there are much more in terms ,of style and design. Want to try some, see these that we love the look and feel of https://www.modibodi.co.uk/pages/howitworks
* Please note – I am not affiliated with any of the companies recommended on here, nor have I been paid to advertise them, these are just suggestions based on either personal use or research suggestions.
Having a tracker app might be useful for your periods, if you know they are not as regular as you’d like them to be, it can be useful if planning romantic nights away or even to know when not to wear your white pants lol. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wearemoody.moodymonth
What happens if I bleed on the bed? – Well honestly not a lot! As above we dispose of the bed cover as usual and the bed is covered with an anti- bacterial, anti- fungal, top cover anyway. In addition we always anti bac and spray everything down as standard. Period blood is not dirty or unhygienic and we need to stop the stigma attached to periods being unclean. They aren’t it’s just a part of your body’s natural cycle.
Does waxing hurt more if you’re on your period ? – TBH I’ve not really found any hard evidence to suggest so. Most of the tension comes, from overthinking it, or believing it’ll hurt more, our brains have a nifty way of getting us to believe our worst thoughts and fears. If you come with the belief it’s like any other wax, usually it is!
You wouldn’t cancel a holiday, because of a period! ..So don’t cancel your wax! We got you!
