Why wax in wintertime? To prep for the summer of course!

It takes 3 waxes – 4wks apart to get rid of shaving stubble and encourage growth to sync! But let me backtrack for a moment….

….Do you reserve waxing strictly for the summer?

Do you think, well what’s the point? the rest of the year -no one sees it!

Are you a suns out, buns out, waxing one off?

If your thinking – yep that’s me! I’m here to clue you as to why year round waxing, or at least starting your wax prep earlier for the summer is the best thing you’ll ever do!

Scenario – you booked that two week holiday in the sun, you wait months for it, your really excited, the anticipation is palpable! You pack everything, sunscreen, shampoo, after sun, razors (just in case) then just before you go, you book in your holiday wax!

You find half way into your two week break, you have regrowth and you needed that razor after all! and then with all the sun, sand and constant showering, from chlorine and sea water – that rash is back! horrible… and you find yourself questioning why doesn’t waxing last longer for you than it does for other people.

Well there are a couple reasons for this!

And once you know you’ll be – ahh!! Make’s sense!

  • Reason 1 – The sun’s rays, UV, and Vitamin D actually encourage hair growth! We are fact hairier in summer than we are in winter! Growth slows in winter for both hair and nails, so we actively grow faster in the warmer and longer days. So that supercharged, holiday destination sun, is actually triggering us to have a lovely growth spurt. Nice huh!
  • Reason 2 – Your hair is at different stages of growth when you come in for a one off holiday wax, (even though you’ve been painstakingly growing it for 3 weeks or so). A week into your holiday, what you’re seeing is regrowth from your previous shave/trim. Its not that your hairier than most, or your waxer did a bad job, it’s hair that was waiting to break through under the surface of the skin, that wasn’t long enough to be captured in the wax you just had.
  • Reason 3 – The more waxes – the less regrowth! The lighter, fluffier and finer hair comes back, so wouldn’t it make sense to have a couple more, so your not worried about whether Epping forest is going to poke through your underwear! Rome wasn’t built in day, smooth doesn’t happen by chance! The more prep you do – the better your results! Plus think of all the time you’ll save in the shower, not to mention, no risk of razor rash, or cuts! So, as I mentioned above right at the top, it takes about 3 waxes, 4wks apart to sync your hair growth cycle and start seeing longer lasting, better results from your wax and stay hair free longer! It should be something every salon tells you about, but unfortunately they don’t necessarily. I always inform new clients, so that they understand the process, and, can be more informed about their own skin & hair! You don’t start a diet on Monday and expect results by Friday, its a process, but a worthwhile one!

If your happy with your one off wax – that’s totally fine!
But..if this was explained  to you ahead of time – would this change your mindset??  Would it encourage you prep for your hols a bit further ahead, where you can leave your razor in the bathroom cabinet at home? or in the bin?! LOL.

3 reasons to start now!

  • Winter & Spring means more layers of clothing, which means you can grow your hair undercover! By the time it starts getting warmer, the regrowth has lessened!
  • You can get used to growing your hair, and believe me, you do get used to it!
  • A full Hollywood wax can be done in under 30 minutes!  A back, neck & shoulder 35 minutes! You get to lie there whilst I do the hard work! Think of all that saved time not needing to shave every other day!
